Re: Jonathan's Workout Log.

Had to skip the description for yesterday as I developed another PC problem, this one causing a system crash whenever I used the keyboard, so everything had to be cut and pasted, which as you can probably imagine is very very slow indeed. Luckily I figured out it was a driver issue after the last trojan virus I had corrupted everything, and now it's all fixed. Fingers crossed.

So, about yesterday: I dropped the squat weight. This is because, although I can squat 70kg instead of 60kg, my form suffers drastically when doing so. Ill-informed though i may be, it seems the right choice to lower the weight a little to where I can squat with good form but still find it a challenge, and build from there more slowly. Feel free to let me know if I am going about this backwards, but as I say it seems the right thing to do.

Still: shoulder press went up a little, and as I had one hell of a time just doing 30kg when I started, I'm very pleased with 37.5kg. For now.
Also I feel like my body is starting to get the hang of the power clean movement now, which is pretty handy.

Side note: just looked back over this log, mainly to see how much the weight has gone up, and noticed that I've had tons of viruses (both PC and human) and injuries lately. What a *****.

Re: Jonathan's Workout Log.

I'm just going to put the work sets in here from now on, as it's a lot less complicated. Also I'm increasing the weight on everything except the deadlift in the smallest increment that I have, which is 2.5kg. Trying to learn patience.

Re: Jonathan's Workout Log.

Made a weird discovery today - I'm actually under-feeding myself. And here I thought I was eating too much....
But anyway.

Wednesday 22/10/08
--------------------
Squat - 65kgx5x3
Press - 40kgx3, 35kgx5x2 (yes, 40kg was a bit too much!)
Power clean - 40kgx5x3

Deadlift PR, though it means I need to buy more weights as that's all I've got!

Re: Jonathan's Workout Log.

Man, it is crazy cold! I'm doing squats with about five layers on, to start with. Stupid country.

Just noticed, a couple of posts back I put the wrong date for some reason. Evidently squats make you time-travel.

Wed 29/10/08
---------------
Squat - 70kg x5 x3
Bench - 52.5kg x5 x3
Deadlift - 100kg x5
(100kg, woo woo woo!)

First post-Bond workout. Seemed important to mention.

Argh, those deadlifts were brutal! I can understand why pansies would exclude them (and squats for that matter) from their training regimen. Luckily I know better.

Re: Jonathan's Workout Log.

Wednesday 05/11/08
--------------------
Squat - 75kgx5x3
Press - 37.5kgx3, 30kgx5x2
Power clean - 45kgx5x3

Ok. Got a squat PR, which is good (and damned hard). However, the press is really becoming an issue now. Some days I've pressed 37.5 and thought I could manage 40kg , other days (like today) lifting 37.5 was too much, I couldn't extend my arms on the fourth rep. I'm exercising patience as best I can and trying what seems to have helped with the squat, doing a few workouts at a more consistently doable weight and then creeping back up. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Also I wish I had larger shoulders, not out of vanity but because my collarbones are being ground to dust when I rack the clean. It's stupidly painful. Rrrrr.
