If I had a pair of 45# bumpers and then used steel, 25s, 10s, and 5s with it. Would I destroy my bar when it gets dumped? Do I have to have the whole shooting match of bumpers? Anyone out there done this before?
Thanks

Joe

no, no, yes.

As a guide I only use as much weight in iron as the bumper (if I've got heavier bumper available) You can get away with loading up the plates, but eventually, depending on how good the bumpers are, you'll where out the sleeve of the bumper. The bar should be able to take quite a bit of weight being dropped without getting bent.

20kg/45's mixed in w/ steel is solid. Add some 10lb trainers from BFS (fat plastic yellow ones), 10kg bumpers, and small change and you have yourself a legit setup. You can cover all the WOD's and (depending on your level) working up to a 1 RM on oly lifts.
