Re: Main page spam filter

It's happening to me a lot as well. I'm posting from my own home (non military), don't use unnecessary asterisks or exclamation points and can't see any dubious words).
What I do notice is that it happens when I make a longer post.

Re: Main page spam filter

Length of post isn't a factor, witness Barry Cooper and some of our rest day friends! Although the longer the post, the more likely to use a trigger word.

Sadly, the hugely-hyped Akismet system really seems to be a failure. It's supposed to be hands-off. Not. It's supposed to "learn" what's junk and what's not - clearly NOT. It takes about twice as long these days to review all the hundreds of posts for spam, and the hundreds of spams for posts.

Sigh.

Re: Main page spam filter

Sorry to ressurect this one. I'd really love to get involved in the Comments off the main page postings, but I consistently get nuked by the spam filter, as well. I've tried posting from different networks and different email addresses, and done my best to insure I'm not using strange words or punctuation

I feel better after telling someone, anyway...

Re: Main page spam filter

I've also recently been getting picked up by the spam filter all the time, tried different email addresses, different names, different networks, no joy.

Re: Main page spam filter

Sorry; you guys are the victims of "david the troll" from NYC. He works out (or worked out) at the NYC affiliate, and has developed some weird obsessive hatred for Greg Glassman, AllisonNYC (I'll bet she slapped him), and all things CrossFit.

Sooner or later, some of those filters will go away. So PLEASE, just post, and be patient. I scan the junk folder a dozen times a day. All you miss is immediate gratification....we love ya, really!

I didn't realize I was being purposefully discriminated against because of my name....

I'll continue to post, and I'll do my best to be patient (obviously, I'm still not real good with it...). I checked back on a couple of my posts that didn't make it, though, and never saw them clear. So, I guess I assumed they were going to some place that wasn't getting reviewed. I can't recall the dates, now (its been a while) - so I'll pay attention again

Thanks, Lynne!

I doubt it will help much, but even a moderator (me) gets caught in that filter . . . the post does go through eventually. It may be hard to find in the blizzard of "non-David" posts, however.

Re: Main page spam filter

It shouldn't be any harder to find than anyone else's; they are posted by time of post, so they go right where they would have gone if they had gone.

Got that?

Re: Main page spam filter

All my posts get "caught"

Kind of annoying so I just stopped posting to answer questions. Oh well. Maybe it's cause I'm long winded.
