Hi, I am trying to get into the Zone diet but have two quick questions. When adding grams up on a food thatlet's say has 19g of carbs, and 3g of protein. Are the 3 grams of protein added to my protein intake or is it only to dominating macronutrient that is added? I would think that you would have to add up all of it but I read some where the main macronutrient is the only one counted. The next question is how accurate do you have to be. If I need 45 grams of carbs and take in 42 or 48 is it a big deal? If some one can clear this up for me I would appreciate it, Thanks.

Joe,

I would refer to the block chart and that's it. Don;t be tempted to complicate it more than that, it's beauty is in it's simplicity. Following the block charts alone I have gone from 216 to 199 today in eight weeks. Believe me being a few grams of carbs over is not a big deal. I've used the eyeball method roughly 20% of the time. Good Luck!
