Too big for a barbell?

Hey all,

I've come across some small segment of the population, built like strongman competitors, who have difficulty setting a barbell across their shoulders for back squats. Any advice for this?

Kent

Come on now. That's just silly. He doesn't seem to have an issue.

That's also not a regular 7ft barbell...

its either a Texas Squat Bar or a Mastodon Bar.
both bars are 8ft long, with 57" between sleeves vs the 52" between regular barbells.

Re: Too big for a barbell?

For size get a Mastodon bar etc.

For flexibility, work on flexibility and in the mean time consider a safety bar squat or cambered bar.

That has a lot to do with mobility and some to do with sheer size. I have the problem and simply hold the bar collar to collar with 3 fingers.

Then you must be enormous. Good to know, I'll pass that advice on.

Anyone can put a barbell on their shoulders but getting your arms on their too can be another matter.
