thoughts on rogue imperfection bars
Relatively new crossfitter and to oly lifting. I joined a box and would also like to get a bar and some plates for my home gym. I was looking at more of the easier to the wallet bar options ($200 - $250 range), but also saw that rogue sometimes has the ohio and chan bar in their closeout section close to $100 off. I know these are listed as "do not meet their standards" but has anyone purchased these and would it be a better $200 spent than say on others in that price range like the AF Team 2.0?
Thanks and I appreciate any insight. |

Re: thoughts on rogue imperfection bars
I've bought two closeout bars - one WL Bar (raw shaft/chrome sleeves) and one Euro WL (chrome/chrome).
Honestly, there was barely anything wrong with either of them. I found the tiniest ding in the sleeve of the WL Bar. I really couldn't find anything wrong with the Euro bar. Both bars did not look new - but really close to it. There's a "R" stamp on the inside of each sleeve. The one big drawback is that someone will have to take your word (or show them a receipt) that it's a Rogue bar if you are trying to eventually sell. Rogue doesn't put branded endcaps on the closeout bars - they are blank. I'm totally fine with ordering a closeout bar...but not ok with the games-used bars. I've heard some stories about the games' bars being absolutely caked with chalk and and having some decent wear to them. |

Re: thoughts on rogue imperfection bars
Thanks for the feedback on this.
We have been working on splitting these bars into 3 categories: 1) Seconds - Bars that don't pass our QC process but are still great bars. That is probably the most desirable. We know the standard is set very high for a Rogue bar and we get most of our issues from plating not manufacturing. 2) Used - Used at the games, returned/repaired but still a good bar. These bars will get the job done but aren't going to look like a new bar. Prototypes will land here as well as they aren't a bar yet but still work well. 3) Garage Sale - These are heavily worn bars that will still do the trick ---------- We have made that split pretty much now but are going to make it even more clear once we clear Black Friday madness. Hope that helps. Thanks again for helping us get better Bill |

Bill, Which category do the Ohio and Chan bars currently in the "closeout" section fall into? Are the considered "seconds" and if so what are some reasons they wouldn't make the full retail cut? Thanks! |

Re: thoughts on rogue imperfection bars
I'd like to add that I have 2 bars used from the Games. One Rogue bar and one bella bar. I have had them now for 3 years with zero issues ever. The Bella bar looked like it was never used and the Rogue Bar didn't even have chalk on it. Maybe I just got lucky but without a doubt I would buy again. We have a Rogue Oly bar used at the Games as well and it is perfect.

If they are raw steel that means they have a cosmetic issue so we don't send them to get plated. I think we are sold out of all Ohio/Chan right now, they were all due to blemishes. Typically the used bars come from events and we differentiate between the two. Let me know if you guys have any other questions, happy to answer them. Thanks Bill |

Re: thoughts on rogue imperfection bars
Hi Bill. Love my Euro closeout bar (this is a bad segue).
I'm in the market for kg bumpers. How far out are the Ohio-made bumpers? I'm trying to hold out for them, but might pull the trigger on the KG comp plate on BF. |

Probably 1st quarter of 2016 Since we are machining the inserts and doing all the specs, it may take time to make them just right. Can't promise anything on the release date. Our latest comp plates are very nice and we get very good feedback on them. Hope that helps and glad you like your EU bar. I spent many hours getting that steel just right. Thanks, Bill |

Do you know the ETA on the Echo bar, and its specs?
