Muscle UP Hand Stand Push up

So here is my question about the Muscle up Hand stand push up.

The other day (monday 01 NOv 10 I think) It came in the main site, I am not really doing the main site WODs, instead I am doing my affiliate WOD, which focus more on my weaknesses, but today just out of nowhere decide to give a MUHSPU a try and got them in the first try, In the past I have being able to do ring hand stand push ups, but my legs get trapped to the point that I can't move them up and down in the straps, same with the muscle up hand stand push ups, I do the muscle up, turn my self up side down, lift my upper body up, but my legs get stuck in straps, I mean I lock my arms to a fully lock position but my legs don't go up, how can I work to fix this problem of my legs getting stuck in the straps? any advice will help.

Thanks.

SANTI

If you bent your legs on the straps they won't move. You have to slide them constantly with th push out.

Or you can put your feet on the inside of the straps which is preferable........ but in this case its much easier to fall over the top

Re: Muscle UP Hand Stand Push up

The Advice worked! today I got 4 of the Muscle up hand stand push ups done, I got tired to the point that I couldn't get my self up side down any more for some reason, as far as the Ring hand stand push ups, did a lot of them 7 sets of 3s and 4s, I slide the legs with the push out and got my self hollow, it helped a lot, thanks for the advice, Do you know any progresions or something to make my self stronger to the getting the upside down part in the rings?

Don't bend your arms as much and keep the butt up high as you press.

Straight arm press handstands in general are good but no one does them.., fundamental gymnastics exercise.

Re: Muscle UP Hand Stand Push up

He means, doing a hand stand without the Kick part of it, you know how some people kick to get to handstand against the wall, well take the kick part of it off and try to do a hand stand without kicking, or what is called a press to hand stand, look at some elite Gymnast videos on you tube, look for press to hand stand and you will see better. it requires a lot of control, coordination, balance, strenght, core power and all that good stuff, a lot of Gymnast take forever to develop it, but it can be done.

Steven If I am wrong please jump in. I appriciate the advice.

however, the press to HS on floor or parallettes is different than on rings.

Drills&Skills has a good guide on progressing towards them as well.
