Talking Re: My journey--Crossfit saved my life.

Hey Dave,
You know you rock!! And I still owe you those 25 burpees! Funny a year ago...I was doing modified burpees (without push ups) and with a high box jump riser. Guess I should post how CF and Billy saved my life too!
Keep up the the awesome work ethic and talk to ya soon Crossfitter!
Tracy

It may not seem as hardcore as what I've been seeing on the site but I'm working on getting there. I really have a desire to become a better athlete. I didn't start out really wanting to be one--I just wanted to lose the weight but an interesting thing happened along the way.

I found out more about who I was as a person. I guess the most interesting thing about Crossfit to me is the psychological aspect---pushing the envelope so to speak. Going beyond what you thought was possible.
David,

Yours is a truly inspirational story. Your log title says it all. And to have worked as hard as you did with your commitment and the resulting weight loss, makes you as hard-core or "Bad A**" as any CrossFitter out there....Sometimes it is the most subtle of actions or choices one makes with regard to their lifestyle(s) which becomes so much more significant than perhaps ripping through a WOD as an elite CFer would.......That's the beauty of the CrossFit community - - we are all in this together as a team with a common goal - - enriching each others' lives and living healthily.

Blessings. Rock on!

What a great read! I can't access the photos at the moment but the numbers speak for themselves.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing!

Stories like this give me the drive to keep pushing myself to hit the gym during the times I want to come home from work and sit on the computer playing WoW all night!

Thank you!

Oh no, not WoW! Please do yourself a favor and quit, I did awhile ago and am much better for it. See David Meverden's post on the second page of this thread. My college roommate for the past three years plays that game 24/7 and does nothing else.

On topic, awesome job David!

Dave - I am astounded at seeing your photos. My jaw dropped. Thanks for sharing! Really incredible.

On a side note: I am interested in what flipped the switch in your mind, to take each of those pivotal steps and change very large aspects of your life. What made you finally fed up with your old lifestyle and physical shape?
