Exercises Movements, technique & proper execution

I got my power rings in today and dvd. The video mentions and shows a false grip for muscle-ups. The false grip isn't explained and I could not see the details.
1. Is it necessary?
2. How do you do it?

To me, the false grip is simply setting your grip on the rings to perform dips. Now keep that same grip as you drop below the rings. Looking at Eva's grip in Eric's post, you'll notice she wraps her hand around the more vertical 4 o'clock position of the rings with the bend of her wrists right at the bottom 6 o'clock position. I find this to be the most powerful (and easiest) application of the false grip... very good when you're just starting out. For me, the only drawback of the exaggerated vertical false grip is that it tranlates into a weak dip grip after the transition phase of the muscle up. But that's nothing that won't resolve with more practice.
