Feel like I'm restarting.

Man, I feel like I'm starting all over again.

I went on my honeymoon recently. I left Thursday March 12 and returned Saturday March 21 at 5 in the morning.

My travel days (Thursday and Saturday) were absolute hell and I didn't do anything but sit in the damn airport most of the time.

I haven't worked out since Monday March 9. I kept saying "I'll workout on the honeymoon" but when fun took over I just didn't get in the gym. I just decided to let loose and have as much fun as possible (and eat everything in sight). I mean if you do it right you only have one honeymoon right? So I decided to have the time of my life, and I sure as heck did.

Now I'm back and I haven't worked out in 2 weeks. I haven't done CF or been on top of my diet in 2 weeks.

Anybody ever experienced a simliar layoff from CF and their diet at the same time?

I've been doing CF half-assed since I first came to this board. But, at the end of February and the beginning of March I put my whole *** into it and started going hardcore. I felt my endurance on the rugby pitch increasing 10 fold while I was putting everything into CF. My wife and I both felt we were getting stronger and more toned.

I almost feel like I've lost it all in the last 2 weeks. Before I was ready to leap into the WoDs, now I'm kind of scared. They're kind of daunting to me. I've already planned to tackle a scaled Murph on Wednesday. I don't know why, but Murph is a challenge and I saw it came up last week. I want to do it to see how much I've lost.

So anybody ever done the layoff thing? Feel like you're starting over? How much did you lose and did you get it back quicker?

Re: Feel like I'm restarting.

I had a similar layoff from working out and eating well for my honeymoon in 2007. We went away to Hawaii for 2 weeks, and I didn't work out once there, and ate like it was my job.

When I got back, I finally went to the doc about a nagging hip flexor pain I'd been having and the recovery for that + the long layoff, really threw me off the wagon for months.

My opinion... just get back on the horse now before its too late... no matter how much progress you think you've lost.

Re: Feel like I'm restarting.

I feel your pain Jason. I had a cycle of SS followed by a stomach flu, which really knocked me down a notch or two metcon wise. My strength is better than before SS, but not where is was before the flu. I'm one week back into doing CrossFit, and the first time doing mostly MP WODs. My first WOD back was Murph, so I know all about fear of getting back into it. All you can do is go from where you are. Don't worry about where you could have been. Start now. Get back in the game and you'll be feeling fit soon.

You know it, the diet and the training, works. Go back to it. Now.

What are you scared of?

Re: Feel like I'm restarting.

I guess I'm scared that I lost everything in the last 2 weeks and I'm starting from absolute square one again.

Well he asked what I was scared of, so I answered him. No need for snippiness.

Re: Feel like I'm restarting.

Just accept that you have lost all of your previous gains. Then if you find out you didn't lose that much, you're ahead of the game. The longer you train, the quicker your gains will return. The longer you wait to train again, the longer you'll have to wait to get back where you were and where you want to be.

Re: Feel like I'm restarting.

It sucks because right before I left I PR'd on the squat and deadlift (245 on each). While not much weight, it was an accomplishment for me. I hope I can get back to there and beyond quickly.
