Red Nike Romaleos - pics (and some words)

When I first saw early shots of the red Romaleos, I knew I wanted them. The pics showed the characters for "Zhongguo" on the straps, had the star pattern of the Chinese flag, and 08-08-08 on the back (all as seen on the Nike labs site: wfs link to nike labs, click the red swatch: http://www.nike.com/nikelab/site.htm...oduct/romaleos). At that point, it didn't matter to me if they would have helped at all for lifiting; they looked great just as commemoratives of the Beijing Olympics.

Well, when they finally appeared on the nike.com store, i was disappointed to see that the look of the reds had changed with all the details stripped (wfs link to nike store: http://www.nike.com/index.jhtml?site...US&co=US&la=EN)

I held out hoping i would find a supplier of the team China ones. However, some coupons showed up and made the deal too sweet to pass up so went for the reds despite not looking the way the originally did.

I just received them today and i could not be more giddy. They are the ones shown on the Nike labs site! I have no prior experience with weightlifting shoes but as far as i can tell, they are solid. compared to other shoes, "built like tanks" is an appropriate description. In addition to the sturdiness, I almost don't want to wear them as they are just beautiful. See for yourself....

For those that don't speak Mandarin, "Zhong guo" means China.

Very nice looking shoes. I may look for a pair when I head back over to China in a couple of weeks.

Ewww! Not to my taste. I'll stick with Asiac running shoes. Good luck with them.

Re: Red Nike Romaleos - pics (and some words)

I guess Ill add to this

I bought the gray with green soles and used them for the first time today.

I have no experience with lifting shoes and had been using some old school adidas' up until now. I thought the adidas' with flat/seemingly stiff sole was a good shoe to squat in.... until I used the Romaleos.

I cant compare the Romaleos to any other lifting shoe since this was the only one ive ever used... but the stability I felt was a night and day difference..
