Dominique - I think my buddy Zach has you beat! He started at "just over 3 biscuits and some gravy". here's a link to his testimonial....he FINALLY got brave enough to post some pictures. (w/f/s)

Zach started doing very scaled WOD's. He had VERY limited flexibility in his hamstrings, but eventually has worked his way down into a full, perfect form squat. He's lost nearly 60lbs since January!!!

Moral of the story - ANYONE can do CrossFit! Keep up the good work!

There really are not a ton of really big guys doing Crossfit but i think that is changing. I stand 6'5" and weigh 306 lbs. Crossfit isnt easy in general and being big makes it that much harder. The gymnastics movements are key to crossfit and are not easy as a big dude. If you want to lose weight, dial your diet with the Paleo/Zone and follow the Mainsite WOD. I have found coach's programming to be pretty good. I usually add strength days to keep size and strength up. But if you are trying to lean out and get better at Crossfit follow the mainsite and try to do it as rx'd. Good luck!

Hello John Welbourn. I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you following a paleo/zone diet? If not, what is it? If so, how many blocks etc?

It would be fascinating to know how you manage your diet.

Edit - okay, just saw your post in the athlete paleo thread.

I believe in one of the interview videos from the main site, John said he is a 50 block guy.

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

I started out @ 260 I am now 198....

My secret for getting lean was the diet... Zone Zone and more Zone.

Concerning the knees to elbow stuff my Filty fifty time was around 50+ minutes now it is 32 minutes. Funny thing was alot of that time was knees to elbows now after practicing them I can fly through em....

That's a great improvement, Rob.
Our affiliate recently adopted the chest-to-bar pull up standard, and we did the Filthy Fifty on Monday... instead of jumping pull ups, it was 50 chest-to-bar pull ups... Needless to say, my previous 32 min time increased to about 39 minutes! Ouch - those suckers are rough!

I started at 40 blocks and started to lose weight so i went up to 50 blocks. I had Robb Wolf re-work my diet and he dropped me down to 35 blocks and x5 fat. I was dieting down to shed some weight and was making good progress. Then i went back to playing football and have had to up my blocks again. I eat 99% Paleo...i get a ton of my fats from cold fish oil. I feel great eating the Paleo and have seen my performance going up.

The biggest problem is eating that much food. I have been filling 2 meals with shakes (not entirely paleo) but a must to get that calories.

Re: Biggest Dude Doing Crossfit

Heavens to betsy, you're a large human. I thought I was a fairly large crossfitter at 6'5" 235.

Dittos to the gymnastics skills; handstand pushups are so far away for me. I've got myself up to 8 muscle ups without dismounting the rings, but that's about the only skill I have in that arena. Parallett work is really tough for me, and keeping good pullup numbers is a constant battle. John, your CF total numbers make me ashamed of myself, something to strive for. how do your keep your joints together at those loads?
