I have a couple old rusted metal wheelbarrows. I'm going to take one of them apart and use the tub as a weight sled to pull around my property. I figure I'll attach a hefty eyebolt to the front, then tie a strong poly rope to it(since I'll leave it outside). Infinitely variably loaded with rocks. Pick a slight slope (like my septic mound) and I can do intervals, up the slope is the hard work. Pulling down the slope is the recovery. Repeat till I fall over.

Anyone tried this before? I figure it's basically a free weight sled.

Dan

Dan,
that's a great idea, the first time I'd heard of using the wheelbarrow was from Dan John, on his website. You should go check it out.

I made one this a few months ago. Had an old wheelbarrow, just stripped the extras off to be left with the tub. Put a "U" bolt on the front and tied a rope. It's left outside all the time, just load it up with bricks and rocks for the variable weight. I have an above ground pool that's about 28' across and against a slope, we make laps around it with a constantly changing grade.

If you are using it on the street and don't want to wake the neighbors, attach deck scrub brushes to the bottom of the wheelbarrow. They are cheap at home depot, have wood block handles that you can sink screws into firmly. Add more, get more resistance. And clean your street at the same time!
