I've adopted the WOD in my training and thouroughly enjoy the whole concept but so far have been doing workouts from the archives, picking them pretty much based upon what equipment I have available to me. Going through CFJ Feb 2003 the "theoretical template" article struck me as really interesting however I was wandering about with regard to WOD layout was: is the template written about in this article strictly adhered to or is there (as I'm starting to think) flexibility in the whole selection process?
Thanks for any help, Jason Lake, UK.

Jason,

The short answer to your question is yes, there is some flexibility in the selection process. What you want to guard against, though, is (whether consciously or subconsciously) choosing WODs that only complement your strengths, while completely neglecting your weaknesses.

As far as WOD theory and templates go, there was a great discussion a while back on this very topic (and no, not because I was involved in it--others offered much more insight than I did):

Hope this helps,

Mike

Mike thankyou very much. I'm reasonably aware of my weak points and am trying to hit WOD's that include these.
