Re: Traveling... Need WOD suggestions/recommendations

When traveling, I like to take a long a deck of cards. Aside from obvious use, the "deck of cards" workout is pretty tough and can be tailored to what equipment you have or just do all bodyweight movements.

Use the kids! My wife and I have actually done workouts while traveling with the kids like: 3 x max squats starting with oldest kid on back ending with youngest kid. Killer. You can do the same with the kids sitting on your back during push-ups.

Re: Traveling... Need WOD suggestions/recommendations

Asking about local globos is a good suggestion, especially if you visit the same locations frequently. Be specific about what you're looking for: I found a great gym in San Francisco because the concierge at the hotel where I was staying works out there.

(Yes, I know there are great CF affiliates in San Francisco, but the locations and hours didn't work out.)

Re: Traveling... Need WOD suggestions/recommendations

Here's just a few workouts I've done while on the road.

1. 100 Burpees for time then do the following:
4 rounds for time:
12 Box jumps off of a park bench
16 Weighted Squats with one of the following, a BAR (Big Arse Rock/Boulder), Tree Stump, Large Child, Friendly Animal etc.....
20 Push-ups, feet placed on park bench hands on the ground.

2. Stair Sprints in your hotel stair well.

3. Tabata anything in your hotel room. Squats, Push-ups, Pull-Ups off of the door, lunges etc...

4. Distance run.

5. Grab your luggage and sprints the stairs while carrying luggage at the top press or push press for reps then repeat for time or rounds.

The list goes on and on. But, you can do dips between nightstands, pull-ups from trees or doors, sprints anywhere, jump rope everywhere, lift heavy rocks, park or school playgrounds are your friends, lift hotel room furniture, burpees are done in prison cells so they can be done anywhere. I just figure out workouts when I get to where I'm going. There is always something that can be done.

When my wife and I went back home to Hawaii last year we where gone for a month. All I had to workout with was clothes line bars for pull-ups, a wheelbarrow, cement blocks and two saw horses. I worked out almost every day and I didn't repeat the same workout once.

Re: Traveling... Need WOD suggestions/recommendations

This is a great recourse! I am going on vacation and really want to continue my wods. Being relatively new at crossfit I knew I could make up a wod but having some that I can pick via the web (WorkoutX)or pdf (Crossfitbodyweight pdf) are awesome.
