How to Avoid Bruised Shins on the Deadlift

What's your approach? Knee-high socks? Pants? Mental toughness? I'd be glad to hear some good ideas.

I just wear tall socks but often still get a little chewed up but not nearly as bad as bare shins.

I wear the underarmor baseball socks myself and that seems to curtail quite a bit of the breaking of the skin/bruising, but, aside from wearing some welders dungarees I think you're probably going to end up with some marks no matter what. It's just another one of those "hey I'm a CrossFitter" badges.

I wear sweatpants on DL days. I don't often to "bouncing" touch-and-go Deadlifts, so I am probably less likely to get banged up than someone who does, fwiw.

Sometimes I'll put long socks on. Depends on who is in the room, mostly, and if I remember. Some people don't appreciate chunks of skin left on the bar as much as other people.

Sweatpants and/or sturdy soccer socks. I almost always wear sweats when O-lifting or deadlifting.

I used to tape my shins, even under my pants. I just wear thick long pants. I've still got the fashion scars on my shins. It's just a different type of body art.

Sweats...you get used to it, to the point that you forget it's even an issue.

Or you could actually wear shinguards. Or just man up and do it.
