Digital Camera for recording video

Hey all, I'm in the market for a digital camera both for everyday use (every week or month use would be more like it, I'm not a huge picture taker), but, more importantly for me, video taping my workout form every session to get an idea on how my form is.

I'm looking to spend under 200 dollars, and most important to me are video quality (good, but doesn't have to be amazing at this price level), memory space, optical zoom, and quality, not necessarily in that order. THere are a ton of cameras out there, and I'm a little lost to be honest.

If anyone an offer some help, or suggest a nice camera, I'd appreciate the help.

Thank you,

Steven

Re: Digital Camera for recording video

I have a Canon S1 IS, which is a few generations back from the current version... at least S3 last time I looked, might be even a newer one out. Anyway, it takes great videos, and if you have a large enough memory card, will take a lot of it too. I always recommend my Canon when people ask.

I've heard good things about this one - waterproof and helmet mountable.

It does video, still, time delay etc.

It is on my purchase list...

Kodak Easyshare cameras since there is no limit on how long the video recordings can be. I have the C703 and I love it.

I found a fujifilm f650 for about $100. its 6megs and has a 3" screen which is nice, takes good video too 30 fps and 640 x 480 resolution.

Here's their newer, better offering, FUJIFILM - FinePix 8.2MP for $150. w/f safe:

This also has 30 fps and 640 x 480 resolution.

Re: Digital Camera for recording video

The cheapest and probably most efficient would probably be to get a decent webcam and hook it up to a laptop -- pretty much unlimited recording space that way and saves the trouble of having to transfer video and all of that. Only limitation is length of USB cord.

Otherwise, for actual video cameras, I'd go Canon every time!

Interesting.

My olympus will record up until the memory card is full. Good quality. Have a 7.1 ultrazoom(550UZ-570UZ), and a 770w(7.1 waterproof, hard to kill). both shoot 640x480/30fps. A bit higher than your range, but good cameras both.

That's awsome. Kodak was the only one I could find to do that.
