Oldest Women on here??? What are your goals...

Just wondering how old some of the oldest women on these boards are. Also, wonder what kinds of workouts you do, and what your goals are.

I'm totally inspired by all the women (and men) here, but it can be harder to relate to the workouts, dietary intakes, and results of people who are quite a bit younger.

Me: 48.5

Typical workouts: Scaled down, and ones that don't require equipment (I'm a back-yard do it myself-er).

Why I work out: To stay healthy. To get stronger so that I excel more in sports and activities that I like to do (swimming, surfing, skiing, in-line skating, biking).

Specific Goals: By Jan 1, 2009...5 consecutive pull-ups, 25 consecutive push-ups, run 400m in 1:35

Long Term Goals: In Summer of 2009...do my first sprint triathlon, do the swimming leg on a full triathlon relay team...and maybe to do a 50 mile organized bike ride.

Here's my workout log link (I hope)

Maybe you should use a typewriter, draft a letter with your question in it, and mail it to them.

Chisel and stone works well too...

Aaackkk!! Hilarious!! You may be right! Geez, I'm not asking for anyone that knows heirolglyphics (sp?).

I was in a class the other day, when the teacher mentioned getting a barcolounger (again, bad spelling). Me and the 2 other "older" women, were the only ones that laughed.

Nancy,

I can't answer your question since I'm new to CF, don't know any other CFers (except for one - she's my daughter's age - 33), and........I'm a guy.

I've got to be one of the oldest - - I'll be 58 in Dec. I'm outta shape, overweight, and have similar goals, albeit with no direction yet as to which sports I want to get back into. I can tell you that after only a week of scaled back WODs with an extra rest day thrown in, I feel wonderful, have lost a couple of pounds, and my wife already sees results!

You go, girl!!

I don't know the ages of all the women on the boards, but there are several active ones older than me (at 43). There's one lady at the affiliate I sometimes train at who is 70, I believe. She's doing very modified WOD's, but she's just starting out, and I fully expect her performance to improve rapidly if she sticks with it.

Great to hear your progress! Way to go Stephen! I'm curious how your body is taking it...soreness, aches and pains, tiredness. It's gotta be harder on our bodies as we age.

70! Wow! That's awesome!

My mom lived to 78yrs, and she used to go to the gym every day. She'd do lite weights, stationary bike, and jogging. Unfortunately, cancer got her. But she was always active. My dad too. He jogged until he was about 82 yrs old. He's still around, but had to switch to just doing daily walks.

I'm hoping I'll be surfing and skiing well into my 70's and beyond!

:-)

for those still in diapers:

BarcaLounger |ˈbärkəˌlounjər|
noun
trademark a type of deeply padded reclining chair.
ORIGIN 1970s: from the name of Edward J. Barcolo, who acquired the original license to manufacture the chairs, and lounger.

more in line with your question - while you are still way too young a rascal to even consider this - there is a nice thread going on over at catalyst athletics:

http://performancemenu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=524 PLEASE ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE.

suppose those ideas are eventually "down the road" for all of us...well articulated concepts

btw, great surfing snapshot ms nancy - santa barbara is paradise

Hi Mike,

#1...I'll check out that link later on. I can only imagine what's on it!

#2...Thanks for the dictionary def of BarcaLounger. So funny!

#3...Thanks for photo compliment. It was taken in February, at Rincon. Fine art photographer from back east was here shooting an ongoing project on surfers. She shoots 8x10 tintypes (old wet tin plate method...very cool). pm me if interested in info on her.

You aren't 'old'...

And I would LOVE to run 400m in 1:35... I am happy if I can freaking break 2 minutes (at the age of 34)...
