IF and Endurance
I am starting IF this week and I am adding Endurance WODs to my regular CF WODs this week.
I'm fasting from 6pm one day to 6pm the next day, every other day. I'm doing CF 6 days a week and adding in 3 Endurance WODs a week with one full rest day a week. I was already running-- I am just exchanging the running I was doing for the CFE "run" WOD. My question is, in your experience with multiple workouts in a day, is it more productive to fast on the days where you only have one WOD or the day when you would have two? I would be eating right after the second workout on fasting days. Thanks for any advice you can give me. |

Re: IF and Endurance
Fasting is a very personal thing, meaning that it is really what works for you as an individual. Unless you have experience with IF my first advice would be to only do it one day at a time and see how it works for you 1x or 2x per week at first. I think this is the conventional wisdom.
However, i don't think all that fasting is going to be productive with that much wod'ing. IMO. Also, there are other sites with more IF focus certainly then CF MP. I think leangains and rob wolf's sites come to mind. Look there. In summary, try it once this week with one of your 1 wod days, or even your rest day, IMO. |

Re: IF and Endurance
You should work up to it, especially since you recently started. People complain of headaches, lack of energy, etc. Try gradually increasing the period of time that you're fasting if you feel any negative symptoms. It will take a little while for your body to adjust to "running on empty."

Re: IF and Endurance
Making 2 big changes at once sounds like a dangerous experiment.
Do one at a time. Try adding in the CFE wods, do that for a month, then try adding in some IF. |

Re: IF and Endurance
Thank you all for the advice. I've been keeping a notebook with workouts, calories, how I have felt, etc. and I can definitely see now that this is really going to vary from individual to individual and not just something another person can tell me how to do.
And of course I didn't take the advice to start slow and have even been trying to cut calories on days I'm eating so right now my runs are sucking, my WODs are sucking and I'm not in a good place emotionally. At some point I will learn that impatience always sets me a lot further back than moderation ever could. ![]() Thanks again! |
