2005 STEPHEN WANN BENCH PRESS COMPETITION (Body Weight for Repetitions) April 23rd, 2005 Purpose for the event: The Stephen Wann Bench Press Competition is a fundraiser event to help the fight against cancer. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society in the name of Stephen Wann. The event will take place on Saturday April 23rd, 2005 at the Norman Regional Hospital Health Club. It is hard to believe, but this will be the fifth year for the competition. Over the past five years The Health Club has donated over $21,000 to the American Cancer Society and has either finished in first place or runner-up the past four years for the most money raised in Norman. This is due to the overwhelming response we have received from the sponsors and participants. Weigh In: Friday, April 22nd: 5-7 PM Saturday, April 23rd: 8-9:30 AM Meeting: Mandatory Meeting at 9:30 AM on Saturday Competition: Competition begins at 10:00 AM Location: Norman Regional Hospital Health Club: 36th and Robinson in the Brookhaven Shopping Center Weight Class: Men will be performing 100% and women 50% of his/her weight Weight classes will be determined by 2.5 lbs. increments. Example: Individuals weighing 202.4 lbs would attempt 200 lbs. Individuals weighing 202.5 lbs. would attempt 205 lbs. Age Groups: Teen: 18-29/Open: 30-39/Master’s: 40 – 49 and Master’s 50 and above Big Heart Group: In honoring the fifth straight year of the competition we have decided to add another division for the “big hearted” individual just wanting to participate and contribute in the fight against cancer. There will be a set weight of 185 pounds for the Men and 60 pounds for the Women. There will be one award (overall winner) given for both men and women – this will also be measured by overall repetitions performed. Awards: Top 3 in each age group and overall champion (All participants will receive a T-shirt) Total Repetitions of Body Weight will determine ranking Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by April 15th, 2005, there will be $10.00 added to same day entries. Entry Fee: $25, all proceeds will go the American Cancer Society in the name of Stephen Wann.
