I once heard somewhere that you should eat your protien at a meal first cause the body sets up certain digestive juices for it that it doesn't do it you eat carbs first. I have made a point of this for so long now that I can't remember where this tidbit came from. Does anyone know if there is any basis in science for this or can I drop this part of my eating?

I've heard about this a while ago too but I don't know the exact science. I eat all my proteins first but I think that's just the way I eat if anything.

It seems to be wisdom of the ancients. Barry Sears sys eating protien first will potentiate glucagon release. A little search of pubmed might shed some light on this if anyone is game.

If insulin control is the goal, then I believe raising glucagon(eating protein first) will help control the insulin released when eating the carbohydrates; wheras, eating the carbs first will release insulin at a faster rate.

I have always eaten protein first, carbs second, and fats last, if the source is nuts. I treat them as a "dessert"
