Re: Weighted Box Jumps

I agree, impressive, but I would definitely go with a weight vest or the like in the future.

As someone I know recently put it, 'CrossFit these days often seems to be about the "why not", as opposed to the "why".'.

Re: Weighted Box Jumps

i don't even find it that impressive.

a few thoughts -

- fix the hat it looks silly

- you have more faith in the strength of that box than i would

- why not just do normal jump squats? the bar would go higher and it would be far less dangerous.

- if only going to use that amount of weight, why not just use a KB or DB in each hand?

- once you land on the box, i would recommend just stepping down with it

Re: Weighted Box Jumps

What ever floats your boat I suppose. I saw something on TV the other day where people race supercharged mechanical ploughs, pushing/running behind an unguarded rotating blade on uneven ground.

If he trains for it properly and with obscene care given the likely consequences of failure he should be okay.

Have no reason to attempt it personally and don't think I ever will.

Re: Weighted Box Jumps

Guys, I think we hurt Blaise's feelings. He hasn't posted much since this thread. LOL.
Sorry Blaise. You are still my hero. Maybe for your next trick, you can strap a baby to the front and the 195# on your back and do an even higher jump.

Re: Weighted Box Jumps

I don't know guys, have you ever thought about weight vest jumps into a pool? think about it. We can't be hardcore unless we're hard to the core.

Re: Weighted Box Jumps

It is stuff like this that leads to Rhabdo articles and general CrossFit hate mail.
