Transforming myself into a Crossfitter? Lets Try !

Hi everybody.

Im going to start this workout log to share my experiences on my way to the CrossFit Open 2014, where i will anticipate.

At first i mention some things about myself.
Age: 21
Height: 6''3
Weight: ~ 255 lb

I'm pretty sure all my first Workouts will be bodyweight stuff because there is no box near me. so i have to start training on my own, or with a friend, and it will take time and money to get equipment.

All i have for training is a selfmade wallball (about 20lb) and i bought some gymnastic rings.
So all i have to say is....3..2..1.. GO !

Monday. 15th July 2013

My workout today:

Run 2 Miles
50 Burpees
100 Airsquats
200 Situps
Run 2 Miles

My time: 53.18

I hope when i lost some weight, i will smash this way faster. Took 17 minutes for the first 2 miles...daaaamn.

Pretty sad that i havent been able to write for more than a month on my log. But never mind, im going to continue just now.
Lately i had my first free class at a local crossfit box, and it was awesome. Because im pretty busy until mid september im going to join the box next month.
At my first workout we did "fight gone bad" and my trainers sad i wasnt that bad, which really motivates me.
Because i really want to change something i have a three month plan, in which i will do a lot of my sport ( handball ) , a lot of Crossfit and a lot of running ( for weight loss). Of course i will focus on regeneraton as well.

Moreover i plan on doing a "before and after", but not with pictures but with some benchmarks. I choosed 6 lillte tests i will do until Monday 1st September, and then repeat them 3 month later. These tests are:

#1 : Cooper Test (12 min run for distance)
#2 : O'Neil fitness test (4 min row for distance)
#3 : Max straight pull ups
#4 : Max parallel dips
#5 : Max rep Benchpress @75% BW
#6 : Max rep Backsquat @ 100kg ( i guess about 220lb)

Lets see what these "benchmarks" will look like and how i will improve. I will try to write a Post every day now, or at least wont wait about a month to repost lol

Tuesday 27th August.

Just did some fun stuff.

my own Wod:

-run 3/4 Mile
-Tabata Burpees (6 Rounds)
-Tabata Air Squats (6 Rounds)
-Tabata Sit Ups (6 Rounds)
-Tabata Jumping Jacks (6 Rounds)
-run 1/2 Mile

Didnt do it for time, just a moderate pace on the run. Just that i did something.

Looking forward to do the fitness "tests", metioned in the post before, on Friday.

Wednesday 28th September

Just did a little track workout.

-3/4 mile run (slow)
-10x100 meter sprint
-1/2 mile run (slow)
-some streching and rolling out with a massage roll i just bought.

Just an easy day.

Thursday 29th August

Had a handball game last night so i haven't done anything else.
Pretty much like intervall runs for about an hour. So quite good cardio work one could say.

Next time i will post the results of my own "benchmark tests".

6th September 2013

Had my second class in a crossfit gym. Amazing. Actually still out of breath and absolutely sure that i'll be sore tomorrow. Going to be there next week again, and hopefully sign contract then..

What we did:

A) Warm up/ Mobility
B) Skill Work : Double Unders and Clean and Jerk
C) 5min EMOM: 50 Single Unders
D) WOD :

5 Rounds for time of:
- 10 Clean and Jerk (25kg/55lb)
- 200m run
- 10 t2b (scaled knees to elbows)
- 10 box jumps (24'')

My time was 18:40. Coudl have been maybe a lil faster, maybe around 18.00 minutes , but i rly tried hard to care about my form.
