Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Yes, sweeping the bar back to the hips and also punching the hips so they hit the bar is correct.

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Week 3, Day 5 - Rest

Week 3, Day 6

Snatch - 60%x2, 70%x2, 80%x1, heavy single
60%(100)x2
70%(115.5)x2
80%(132)x1
Heavy Single(150)x(f) - Just didn't get under fast enough
Heavy Single(150)x1
Heavy Single(160)x(f) - Fell backwards once I caught it, but I was happy with the snatch regardless

Clean & Jerk - 60%x2+1, 70%x2+1, 80%x1+1, heavy single
60%(135)x2+1
70%(157.5)x2+1
80%(180)x1
Heavy Single(205)x1 - It was fine, but I literally forgot to move my feet when I cleaned it.
Heavy Single(215)x(f) - Failed the clean, don't know why.

Back Squat - 70% x 3, 75% x 3, 80% x 3, 85% x 3, 3RM
70%(227.5)x3
75%(244)x3
80%(260)x3
85%(276)x3 - I went lowbar for this because I wouldn't have been able to hit it otherwise. All other sets were highbar.
3RM(260)x3 - High Bar, wanted to focus on form but this is near my 3RM high bar max (from feeling it out)

SLDL - 3x5
(160)x3x5

Questions
1. What is the next step for my High Bar squat?
2. Why did I miss that 215# clean?

Answer to (1) - start basing your training weights on your HBBS maxes so you don't feel like you have to switch styles in the middle of the work...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

I thought the clean looked pretty good, till your back collapsed elbows dropped in the bottom...maybe it was a tad forward? (I do that too ).
Your lifting looks great, keep going!

Yea, I figured that was probably a good idea...

I'm going to assume I can hit around 280, 285 for 1.

Why don't you just test it sometime? Not going to hurt anything to work up to a 1RM instead of whatever is called for one day.

Just keep focusing on sitting down instead of back, since that's how you're going to land in a clean/snatch.

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Week 3, Day 7 - Rest

Week 4, Day 1

Snatch - 60%x2, 65%x2x2, 70%x2x3
60%(100)x2
65%(107)x2x2
70%(115.5)x2x3

Snatch Pull - 90% (of sn) x 2 x 2, 95% x 2 x 2
90%(148.5)x2x2
95%(157)x2x2

Back Squat - 70% x 3 x 5
70%(200)x3x5 - I've now switched to HB, and am basing my percentages off of a 285# projected HBBS

____________

My question: Why was the bar path so far forward on my snatches?

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

good speed but you never fully extend your hips on the power cleans
