Fight Gone Bad sucks... a lot

Man, for the longest time I worked out on my own, and didn't get another trainer at our place until recently, so I never got around to doing FGB. Man, what a friggin' nightmare.

I was thinking I could get a nice score b/c of the box jumps, but then I realized that the FGB standard box jump is jump up, stand straight up, and then jump off the box. So that meant that my easy 50 or 55 points on box jump the normal training way (jump up, land, hop back down immediately) went out the window.

Oh well, so much for that one. I should probably have practiced this WOD beforehand, came into it not knowing what to expect (I've done variations of it, like Tabata Fight Gone Bad, but never the real thing).

Oh well, next time I guess.

Our affiliate is a little behind and main site and we just did FGB this morning. Last night we did Linda, so I had the pleasure of doing Linda, then 12 hours later FGB.

No PR today.

I feel you there. When I did FGB last time my box jumps did not include much extension and I was able to rock them but being a big boy now I'm trying to clean up my act. Enter full extension at the top box jumps. Sure hard to rack up numbers when you do them that way.

Oh well, we should feel better knowing we're not cheating ourselves on the movement, right?

You can get full extension while coming off the box. If you time it right, they are fast and smooth ... but still suck.

Matt I'm a little confused...you should always open your hips all the way on a box jump or step up...what was the difference between the FGB Box Jump or any other WODs Box Jump?

Leaving the Hips closed (unless you're doing some kind of WOD experimentation), isn't ever a full rep.

Matt,

It wasn't THAT bad. I think the wall ball was more of an issue.

Every time I see this thread title:

"Fight Gone Bad sucks . . . a lot!"

I automatically think of teaser for a nightly newscast:

"In other news, tonight we learned that gravity pulls DOWN! . . . film at 11"

The wall ball was my big killer, it seemed like none of my limbs wanted to work together when I got to that station.

Yes, the wall bal was my killer too. Now that I think about it, they were all my killer...

Re: Fight Gone Bad sucks... a lot

I always though the suck factor on the Box Jumps was the worst by far... < shrug >
Then, I actually like FGB - think it's my favorite CF workout.
