Android Incredible Apps?

Hey folks! Need a little techie help. My partners and I have HTC Droid Incredibles on order through Verizon. We are all eye doctors. What apps should we get? We're interested in all kinds of stuff that mid-life professionals/jocks/dads, etc. could use. Thanks!

Round Timer, without a doubt. You can set multiple rounds, rest and work periods to a second. The screen goes red and green a few seconds from start and stop, plus there are sounds for the beginning and end of each round. I use it routinely for FGB, Tabatas and so on. Great Crossfit app.

Re: Android Incredible Apps?

The barcode scanner makes downloading apps much easier than searching the market. Just point a search engine to "android app [description of what you want it to do]" and lots of the links you will get will have barcodes which can be scanned by the phone on your computer screen and come up as a link to the app in the market. If this is not clear, it'll become more clear whne you have the hardware on hand.

I use HIIT Interval Trainer, Ultrachron Lite, Offsite WOD and Calorie Counter apps. There are several for each purpose, it's just going to be what suits you. Do youself a favor though, and try it out before you workout - it really stinks when you're all set for a Tabata routine only to have a poor app you can't work with.

Also if you don't have it already, get Advanced Task Killer. Most of the Apps that you open stay running in the background of your phone and it kills your battery life. Just hit the Task killer a couple of times a day and it stops all the apps that you are not curently using. First thing that I put on my phone.

Another vote for that.

Re: Android Incredible Apps?

Overall my top 5 are probably: Dolphin Browser, Btunes, NPR, Phone Flicks, and Pandora.

But here are my suggestions...

Dolphin Browser - better web browser.
Advanced Task Killer - same as mentioned previously
Astrid - a good todo list app with timer/scheduler
Astro - a good file manager
BBC News, NPR, USA Today, AP Mobile - for news
Pandora - internet radio
Ringdroid - for making ringtones if you wish
Unit Converter - what it sounds like, good for crossfit

Where and Foursquare are good social networking/restaurant apps.

Carrr Matey - for remembering where you parked.

FTP Server - if you want to geek out and set up your droid so you can FTP files between it and your PC.

Phone Flicks and/or Flickster - great for movies and managing netflix.

3D Level - use your phone as a level (in a pinch)

Btunes - a great music player.

Buddy Runner seems cool too as it is supposed to track your runs, but I'm not sure how well it works.

Re: Android Incredible Apps?

I disagree with the ATK recommendations. Good program, but generally not needed. See this article (wfs) from Android Central. If you're going to use a task killer, make sure you know what you're doing.
