hi temp bumpers with metal sticking out!

I have quite of few Hi temp bumpers that are about 2 month old. Last night while setting up for the WOD, i had 2 members yell in pain! They were poked/cut by some metal splints(not sure what else to call em) that were starting to stick out from these bumpers!

what's the deal with that? is it suppose to be like that? I know they are recycled rubber but the fact that its causing my clients physical harm is unacceptable!

I had one like that before. Just pulled it out and haven't seen any others. Might want to inspect every wheel and pull them out if needed.

yea, I find a little metal shard sticking out every once in a while. I just pull it out. It seems to be part of how they're made: metal wire coated with rubber I guess. I assume you wouldn't have that problem with the smooth virgin rubber bumpers. (WFW, Krailburg, Wrights etc.)

I had the same thing happen to me the other night while setting up for my hang power cleans. The piece of metal cut the crap outta my thumb! I was bleeding for a while and I kept having to take breaks to wipe the blood off my thumb. Other than the random metal splinters that stick me, I have had no problems with them.

Have the same problem all the time with the power max bumpers. i think they are little bits of steel from recycled tires. Keep some pliers on hand to yank them out. It was a worse problem when they were newer; seems to have abated a bit, but I check them after heavy use.

I, for one, have never experienced this problem, and I have used my 210lb Hi-Temp set extensively over the past year and a half.

we have had this problem twice, actually it was one of our members both times. I also let Eddie at the Garage Gym Store know about it.

That's weird, in Utah when that happens we just chew them up and spit out paperclips. That whole yelling in pain must be a Cali thing
