A new Gnomusmaximus
Hello, my name is Andrew, there is some stuff about me here:
http://vikingstrength.com/2012/01/29...es-competitor/ I am a Highland Games/sometimes strongman guy with an Olympic lifting habit. I have been adding crossfitesque stuff on the ends of my routines for about a year now. I am pushing 50 (pushing hard at 50) and recently made a total mess of my groin/hip. May need to have a labrum tear repaired, might be able to avoid it with some PT. Dr. says I am to do less frequent Heavy stuff and more "crosstraining". Since I have enjoyed the cf stuff I have done I figure I will switch to doing more cf. I have an association with a local crossfit box (not an affiliate yet) where I keep my strongman equipment, but I have a fully equipped fitness center/weight room across the hall from my office so it is much more convenient to do stuff there. Recently I downloaded all the Certification (1 and 2) stuff and am more or less following the theoretical template model because it is kind of easy to adapt to my gym/schedule. Stealing WOD ideas from a bunch of sources then scaling them to try to get the basic intent of the WOD. Plan/goal is to try to do the scaled version of the Open for giggles. I hope that helps me lose the weight I need so I can qualify for Pan-Ams in Oly lifting. The Oly lifting will then help me get the few extra feet I need to qualify for Masters Worlds in Highland Games again. |

WMG triplet day
15 min AMRAP ( 3 rounds, + cleans + :55 on bike) 10 cleans at 45kg 5 minutes on spin bike 2 pull-ups Could only get the bike to do time, not distance so that messed me up a bit. Pull ups were unassisted, hey at least I can do them now. |

Snatch-kg 50x3 55x2 60x2 62 60
BTNJ-kg 60x3 70x3 80x3 82x Jerk-kg 80 M/G 3 RFT (3:35) 10 KB swings @ 55# 10 push-ups First attempt at Olympic lifting since the hip/groin injury. Snatch wasn't too bad. My PR is 65/66 so 62 was better than I expected. The jerks on the other hand sucked. I am usually in the 90's there. My right arm could not lock out which is odd. I actually wonder if it is because of my hip (also right side) Maybe I just can't drive with that side so I didn't get the bar as high there??? I did the regular jerk at 80 just so I would know I could still do it. I need to remember 2 things. 1) I told myself I would wipe my white board clean. In other words reset all my PR's and start over, especially if i have to have surgery. I obviously lost track of that. 2) I told myself to stick to ONE movement only on heavy days. I obviously lost track of that as well. Should have just stopped at the snatches. |
