Finding an Olympic weightlifting coach

I am interested in finding a good Olympic coach to properly learn the lifts from.

I went to the USAW's site but under their coaches link I get "UNDER CONSTRUCTION". Is there another source for finding a coach close to me?

Re: Finding an Olympic weightlifting coach

I don't know how far Paducah, KY is from East TN ... but there is a certified olympic lifting coach down in Chattanooga .. Steve Fauer, I think?

I have contacted him a couple of times about going down for a couple of sessions but it just hasn't worked out yet.

Apparently - He's also a sports photographer ... http://www.chattpics.com/ WFS

Re: Finding an Olympic weightlifting coach

Thanks, Andy. Chattanooga is about 4 hours from me. I'd prefer to find something closer so I could be regular about it, but who knows, if I can't find anyone I may contact him and just do a session every couple months.

you could pm/email coach b. i'm sure he's got a bazillion and five connections and could steer you in the right direction.

calling your local box might do some good too

Check the club page on the USAW's web site: http://weightlifting.teamusa.org/content/index/1808 (wfs) It's got a list of weightlifting clubs in Excel format. There are two listed in Tennesee; maybe one is near you. Contact them and see if they have a certified coach.

Thanks, Jose. I contacted one of the guys on the excel sheet. He is about 2 hours away so hopefully he can provide some direction.

Hey dude,

I asked my coach and he wanted to know why you wanted to live in the middle of nowhere?

But he did say you could email

Dr. David Pursley
pursleymd@insightbb.com

He can point you in the right direction.

Also ask around at the local colleges... my coach is a local strength and conditioning coach.
