Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

I've been doing the WOD's off the main page for a bout two weeks now, and I was wondering if that is all you guys do in a day, or if you do any other workouts in addition to them. I'm usually dead when I get done, but 10 minutes later I'm ready to do some other lifts. I'm curious what everyone else does.

Chris-

Congrats on beginning CF.

This topic comes up rather frequently.

A quick search showed me there are 500 threads that have something to do with the issue of whether the WOD is enough.

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

If I was following the mainpage program of 6 days a week, then I would stick with Crossfit as Rxd. On the other hand, I just did Fran, as noted in my other thread called "First time Fran...", and it was a heck of a workout but it was definitly something that could have been done at the end of another workout. Fran was basically just a quick burnout that took me ~8 minutes. I spent about 10-15 doing my normal warmup.

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

I typically rest about 10 minutes after the WOD and then do some skill work (double unders, muscle ups, o-lifts with lighter weight, etc). I usually pick 1 or two things that I need work on and practice form. I follow the main site WODs (3 on, 1 off), so I usually go pretty light on these in the first and second day and then burn myself out on the third.

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

From the CF Main Page FAQ-

Quote:
1.5. Is the WOD Enough? Should I do more?

Part of the crossfit philosophy includes pursuing/learning another sport or activity, and many crossfitters are also martial artists and competitive athletes in a variety of disciplines.
However, if you work the WODs hard, you will find yourself at an improved level of fitness, and for lots of us, the WOD is our primary "sport."
If you pursue another activity, you will need to balance your work/rest cycles and be sure to allow for recovery. Sometimes, you will need extra days off or to consider a WOD as "active rest" done at a lower intensity.

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

I'm usually really good at using the search function of forums, but I neglected to do so here. I think I might start spending some more time on learning proper form and technique and the Olympic lifts after the WOD's. Today's was a butt kicker, I wasn't too motivated to do anything after it. I have realized I really really need my gym to get a higher pull up bar. My feet touch the ground when I stand straight up and grab the bar so I haven't been able to do any kipping pull-ups at all.

Chris-
There are a lot of good Oly-lifting videos on the main site that you will probably find helpful.
Re. kipping pull ups - when you are on the bar, can you keep your legs bent a little bit to avoid touching your feet at the bottom?

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

I've watched pretty much every video on the main page, a lot of them multiple times. I have to bend my legs a good bit to keep my feet off the ground. I've watched every "how to" kipping video on the main page and I still can't get the hang of them.

Re: Does anyone do anything in addition to the WOD?

At the affiliate I get tortured at oops I mean train at, we do mobility exercises and the warmup as well as every night there's strength training plus the WOD. Day 1=Squats, 2=Press, 3=deadlifts, 4=weighted pullups, 5=light squats.

I suggest doing anything extra before the WOD, because if you're like me the only thing you can do after is lie down in a puddle of sweat desperatly trying to suck in as much air as possible.
