Hi,
Is there an inexpensive alternative to the ironmind pillars of power? I would like to do some deep squats/benches without assistance and these seemed like a portable option for my home gym. But they seem to be somewhat expensive (kind of overpriced actually)
Do you know of anyone who manufactures something like this?

Thanks,
--Ram

Ram-

To my knowledge they are as good as it gets. I have a friend who is trying to weld a similar contraption. He is opening a fabrication shop and if they turn out well and can be offered at a better price I will have him post contact info here.

If you have bumper plates it is possible to clean the weight and focus on front squats. Keep your eyes open for used power racks in the classified ads and yard sales.

I use a pair of workbench's I bought for 19.99 at Argos, for those who know what that is. The height is just lower than my bottom position squat. I would love Pillars of Power as well, but I'm a cheap student:biggrin:

It might be possible to use metal pipe and a design similar to the pirulettes. I'm going to look into it. It would be very easy to make a semi-adjustable pair, with use of various heights of the upright pipe. It would also be better to use a larger wood part than I have on the piruletts.
