Ok,
It says 1 rep for 7 sets - weighted. I'm new to this but can do pullups fine. Should I do just one rep, max weight, 7 sets. Or would it be better to deviate and do say 3 or 4 reps - still with a bunch of weight?

Semper Fi,
Mike

Michael, maybe warm up with some lighter loads for reps but today's WOD is 7 singles - they should be heavy. If you feel that a given load will allow you to bust out multiple reps then jack it up next set.

Also, may be worth knowing that other variations such as 7*3 and 5*5 have been seen before and will come around again.

Have fun with it.

Cheers, kempie

PS This thread will probably be moved to Work Out of the Day

Doing multiple reps changes the output due to how the body responds to it. Doing 1 rep/set at max weight or with increased weight per set over multiple sets will force the muscles to expire through a more intense ROM. Both have their bennefits but IMO I would say it is OK to do either but don't ignore the bennefits of both routines. Just make sure that you don't do them at the same time.
Hopefully, someone else with a better answer will chime in.
Also, keep in mind that you might want to post questions like this in the "Workout of the Day" section to get more and immediate responses.

Sorry Chris, you chimed in at the same time while I was typing.
Thanks for responding though.:highfive:
And like you said, there are variations.

Thanks you guys - As I said, I'm new at this and didn't see the WOD file - dumb grunt here! Your explanations are great and help. Yesterday I did the WOD and did more than 3 the 1st set - but then dropped down to 3 reps on following sets when I increased the weight. I ended up doing more than the 7 sets - about 10. I think I didn't use the correct form - but arched my back. It was hard not to - so I think I was using too much weight. Brings me to my next question. Yesterday I only took about 15 to 30 sec's rest? Too much, too little? How about today - how long rest between sets? thanks again. I'd move the post but don't know how. Will put it in the right place next time.

Mike

Don't worry, you're not the first or last to embarrass themselves on this site. I've been there and done that many times.:wallbash:

Now go have some fun.:msn-wink:
