Attaching 1.5" Rope To Pull Up Bar

Hello all. I purchased 10ft of rope from ebay to practice rope climbing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to attach the end to a bar? Both ends are wrapped in tape. I wonder if the friction would keep the rope from loosening if I wrap it once around the bar. Thanks.
