I've been waking up in the morning with stiffness and pain in my achilles tendon. I can also feel it at the start of a run, but it goes away as it warms up. I completely ruptured my other achilles about 8 years ago and I do not want to go through that again. My calf never fully recovered it's strength or size. I had no symptoms prior to the tear like I do now. Any suggestions for proactive measures?

The best preventative measure you can take for this is to warm up good before strenuous activity, then stretch after activity, and ice after stretching if you are able to rest after stretching.
