Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

OHS @ 115# one rep every 20 seconds. Bar must remain overhead for the entire duration. If squat depth isn't met or the bar drops from the overhead position the timer stops. Probably not going to happen but man that would suck after a while. Certainly would get pretty brutal for the stronger athletes just from the amount of time the barbell would be sitting overhead.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I'm thinking since Castro said the better will struggle, there will not be a time limit and will include a max weight movement reached by slow increments. Something like

13.5
There is no time limit
-Fran
-Reach a 2RM of thrusters (max starting weight 95 pounds), max increase in weight of 20 pounds.
-Fran

Scored by max weight reached, tie breaker is the sum of Fran times

It better not be just Fran or Fran ladder. I really want something new. I feel like crossfit is losing its 'constantly varied' principle. I would love to see a complete curveball. Heck, every workout should be a curveball !! This is Crossfit !

Maybe that's it !!! 10 minutes to throw as many curve-balls with a softball.....
Softball throws are proven to be a weakness in elite crossfitters - so they will struggle.

This is testing done once a year... I think repeating a couple workouts a year is still constantly varied. Just like the girls, the open is a benchmark. I think it helps to repeat some of them, because the open is for those who don't normally compete...how can these people see their improvements? By repeating workouts.

That said I hope it something different too.

I'm thinking either the heavy fran people are mentioning OR something like, a triple fran.. (1 Fran is hard for new xfitters, 2 Fran is hard for the experienced, 3 Fran is hard for the top athletes)
Wouldn't a double or triple Fran simply change the way you approach the WOD? What makes Fran so hard is that it's an all out sprint. Doubling or tripling just means that you pace more, at least that's what it would mean for an average CFer like myself.
