Re: Im so weak

hi bianca

don't give up!!! give it 3 months and then look at your log book. you will be amazed at the gains you have made. get a yellow highlighter and mark off each time you make a PR at whatever movement. then give it another 3 months and do the same thing. you will be amazed at the progress.

scale your workouts so that you can finish each wod. only in rare cases should you not be able to finish a wod.

i am 52 years old and started xfit almost 4 years ago. i still come in last or close to it in some wods. i don't beat myself up over those days. i look at those days as "well gosh darn i finished that one which is more than most guys my age are doing and so what if i was beat by a bunch of girls" at least i got off the couch and did something

again DON't GIVE UP!!!!

Re: Im so weak

I've been doing crossfit for about 1 1/2 half years, but let me tell you, in the beginning I was ALWAYS last and most of the time I took twice as long as everyone else. I went for me and I tried hard not to compare myself to others.
I agree with everyone else, keep a log or a journal. You will be amazed at your progress. Keep it up, it can change your life.

I have a blog with some funny stories of my WODs in the beginning, if you want a good laugh.

Re: Im so weak

just my opinion:

- never ever give up
- do not compare yourself to anybody else in the box (unless you want to compete)
- have fun in working out
- one day you wonīt be last again
- there is always something you are best in! (Perhaps it is running?)

Just do CrossFit for yourself and do not forget - CrossFit is really "highclass"... The exercises are the most efficently and probably the hardest you can do.

Stay tuned and have fun!

Re: Im so weak

Somewhere in your box is someone's who's much bigger and sees you breezing through body weight movements and is just as discouraged as you. We all have strengths and weaknesses. When I started CF I was 260lbs and hated any WOD that didn't involve a barbell. I'm still terrible at burpees, T2B, running and many others.

Enjoy what you're good it and look for progress in your weaknesses. Enjoy the journey, that first RX pull-up will be magical, at least it was for me (almost 6 months in).

You must remember that nothing in life worth having comes easy, keep at it and you will get to where you want to be.

Almost two years ago now, I quit smoking (after 12 years) and started cleaning up my diet and working out (mostly running and rowing, then added home-based CF-inspired workouts some 6 months ago).
After my body got used to it and I built the necessary muscle and stamina, my lungs came up again.
Went to a specialist, she said my lungs were in a constant state of inflammation because of my astma (taking 10 deep breaths already caused an attack by her standards!), and she gave me an inhaler named Symbicort.
A puff in the morning, and a puff in the evening, and for longer physical efforts, another puff before it.

Works wonders, never felt better since.

Bottomline : if you feel like your astma is blocking you, go see a doctor about it. Air (oxygen) is also fuel to your body, so you need to handle and take care of it as you would take care of your diet.

As for the motivation : I always tell myself everytime "at least i'm working out and getting fitter and feeling stronger physically and mentally, and that's a looooot more than all those who do nothing!!!"

Re: Im so weak

When it comes to motivation, look no further than the injury forums. Every single one of those people is dying to be able to go into the box and do exactly what your healthy body is capable of doing. I missed three months recently, due to injury. Now any time I feel a lack of motivation to go to the gym, I just remember how mad me from two months ago would be at present-day me for skipping a day due to "lack of motivation".

Re: Im so weak

I like to remind myself that if I do the work my muscles really have no choice but to get stronger. So just keep doing the work.

Also, I agree with what several others have said - we all have to remember that our goal is to better ourselves, not worry about where we stand vis-ā-vis others.
