Torn up hands!

I love kipping pull ups, they're a real favorite of mine. But, every time I do them, and I mean every, they tear up my hands something fierce. I use chalk and it still happens. Its bad, it doesnt just hurt, it prevents me from working out at least the next day. Anyone have ideas on how to fix that and maybe some ideas on treating torn up hands? Its not popped blisters, it tears the flesh right in the center of my palms.

Re: Torn up hands!

I did, but I should be more specific. Its not torn calluses. The bar literally skins the middle of my palm, I do file the calluses under my fingers etc and use a pumice stone and those are fine. But its the middle of my hand, the soft tissue, that gets torn and ripped raw. Every time I workout I have to bandage up my hands because Ive ripped dime to penny sized chunks of skin off.

Re: Torn up hands!

Um, rips there are still rips. You might be grabbing on too tight or have a weird hand grip on the bar. Generally the middle of the hand is never really on the bar much especially if you take a more "fingertip" approach to the bar.

Take care of your hands by STOPPING when you feel like you're gonna rip and resetting. To be honest I would stop when I feel like I am going to rip and then do that for about a month straight. Then you rarely rip at all from what I've experience.

Re: Torn up hands!

What's wrong with taping up? Climbers do it all the time. I've never had to do it in the gym but outside when my hands are getting shredded it's a necessity.
