Todays WOD, Thursday, June 27th

AS RX'd
3 rounds for time of:
Run 800m
1.5 pood KB swings 21 reps
95# thrusters 21 reps
21 pullups

I can do this as RX'd, however, it will take me a LONG time.... probably a little under an hour.. or an hour maybe.. my 95# thrusters are about 7 max on the first set, so I'll be doing these all day ,no prob with pullups or KB swings.

BUT, I was wondering, if I can do this RX'd (no matter what the time limit is)
is that better to do than scaling down the weight to achieve a better time?
Was just wondering the pro's, cons to both methods.
Thanks in advance!!!

Jonathan.

If I were you, I'd do the thrusters with 65 or 75lbs. It'll be more of a metcon that way.

Re: Todays WOD, Thursday, June 27th

Ok, thanks!!!
My problem is, is I don't know when to "Sub" movements or workouts, I just usually push through with the workout as RX'd.
Like with this one for example, I feel more of a strength workout rather than metabolic conditioning. I spend so much time lifting, My heart rate drops down for that long time period.
So, is the general idea to keep a balanced metcon for the whole workout?

Jonathan

Don't just do it. This workout should take between around 20-30 minutes and be a met-con hell. I second Justin and say do 65 or 75lb thrusters. From what you've said I think 65lb would be more appropriate.

If you check the brand x martial arts forum when you're not sure how to scale, you'll find what you need. You can scale load, reps, time, distance, rounds and use different variations of exercises if needed (eg, hang squat clean v clean) to ensure you achieve coach's desired stimulus. A more than beneficial beat down ;-)

Wow that was a hard one.

The last time I came that close to getting sick was during Murph.

Re: Todays WOD, Thursday, June 27th

3 rounds for time of:
Run 800m
35# KB swings 21 reps
2 X 30# KB thrusters 21 reps
21 pullups

32:55:83

I post today because I had to break it off after one round last week due to a strained calf muscle. Sucked. It was indeed metcon hell. Needed to suck a lot of wind on the 3d rotation.

Just when I think I'm getting better, a WOD comes along that kicks me right in the orchestra pit.
