affiliates that rely on kettlebells and post their own WODs

I know that NewJerseyCrossfit.Com relies (presumably because of space considerations) to a large degree on kettlebells, and also posts on its affiliate page WODs that incorporate kettlebells a majority of the time. I'm just wondering what other affiliates do this.

Anyone know of others?

We will use KB's and DB's for space saving options when the classes get big. Plus they're easy to drag inside and outside. Throw a few body weight movements in with a KB based workout and you're money.

I don't know much about the man, the affiliate, or their WODs, but the guy who runs CF Philly is a top KB instructor.

Re: affiliates that rely on kettlebells and post their own WODs

It has nothing to do with space for me, I just love Kettlebells. I usually have at least one day a week that is nothing but KB workouts. My dumbells usually collect dust and cob webs, but my KBs get used to some degree almost everyday. You can check my page www.crossfitsla.com and find several days that are nothing but big KB complexes. They are my favorite tool.

I stopped posting my WODs for a number of reasons, and I now feel KBs are highly overrated and definitely overpriced.

This sounds so shocking to hear from a CFer that I almost want to ask if you're serious.

Why do you feel this way?

When I do an occasional workout at home, I always think how nice it would be to own KBs, but then I think about how I already have enough leftover DB handles and plates to simultaneously make a pair of pseudo-1-poods (35#) and another pseudo-1.5-pood (55#). I can't really bring myself to fork over the cash for KBs when the adjustability and DBs make them a more economical option. Aside from the fact that using DBs just isn't the same as KBs, the main drawbacks I have to deal with are constantly having to retighten the collars even in mid-set, and stabbing myself in the shoulders with the exposed handle ends while doing front squats and cleans.

Eugene Allen at Crossfit Pierce County uses KBs quite a bit. He has a link on his blog the WODs he has created. One I remember in particular was "Hypoxia", definitely an apt name as I was having quite a bit of trouble getting O2 while doing it.

Eugene comes up with some vicious workouts, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Check out Greg Everett's article, "Kettlebells: We've Got to Talk" in the Performance Menu for a very thoughtful critique of KBs.

They are fun, and I have a bunch of them, and I sometimes use them just for the sake of variety (a KB snatch is a very different stimulus from a DB snatch). But other than for swings, I'd be hard pressed to say they're better.

I'm no expert - having only owned kettlebells for a couple of months - but I love mine. And they're certainly great when one is pressed for space.
