I am constantly touched/inspired by the images of fellow crossfitters working out while serving overseas, mainly in Iraq and Afghanistan. I want to do something to show support. I would like to put together a few care packages that will be sent to the various locations around the holidays. I would like to know if anyone else would be interested in donating, or assisting with the effort. It is a great way to show support of our fellow crossfitters, regardless if you support military operations or not.
I think that donations should be accepted for the month of November. The packages will be sent the first week in December.
1) I think the donations portion would ideally be done over the internet. Does anyone have experience doing this?
2) The packages will include crossfit items, such as chalk, a set of rings (if donations are high enough), etc. They will also include personal care items, pens, notebooks, candy, etc. Can you think of items that should be sent?
3) Additional funds, or funds received after the deadline will be donated to an appropriate charity. Does anyone know of a few good charities?
Please respond to this post, or email me at email@example.com if you are interested.
