Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

Adding ~800 kcal of fat to your coffee is not going to make you fitter, healthier, smarter or help you lose weight.

The whole thing is a scam, pure snake oil, and I'm amazed so many seemingly intelligent people have been taken in by it.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

Adding fat to coffee is known for quite some time. Its a great way of adding clean, healthy calories to your diet.

And on top of that, if one is following bulletproof diet, coffee is a great way to add calories and energy and not stop autophagy proccesses in your body.

Its been a life changing experience for me too, I just adapted it a bit, I drink it 1h before workout and with only 50g added butter, mtc and coconut oil. I basicly use it to fuel my workouts.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

WHAT is bulletproof coffee? Why am I seeing it everywhere? What is apparently so great about it?

I am so confused by this new obsession with "bulletproof coffee." All I've seen about it is that people dump butter into their coffee which A) repulses me, and B) seems like a complete waste of time, nutrition, calories, coffee, and butter.

Google helps. So does the search function on this forum. Lots of information out there.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The guy that came up with the idea and has been marketing it is a complete snake oil salesman but for some reason the CrossFit community has decided that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread (well they don't think sliced bread is that great due to the whole paleo thing...)

Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

Maybe you misread my post, its been known for a lot longer, than "that guy is selling it", he just started advertising it as a "bulletproof coffee" and built his business around it.

Similar to what Greg did with crossfit, there are no new exercises in crossfit, nothing has been invented, everything is already seen. He just "boxed" it up and built his business around it.

The good thing is that both business are good, healthy and improves our lifes.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

Wait, snake oil is MCT?!

Maybe the guy's own coffee and oil are bogus, but it's hard for me to think that he's selling a scam when he gives you the recipe and substitutes on his website.

Re: Bulletproof Coffee!!??!!

I just tried it recently and it was good. As long as it fits within your caloric/macro nutrient needs for the day I don't see the harm. It tastes great and if you're using a quality fat source then it's a plus. Caffeine is a proven ergogenic so it's a win/win.
