![]() Hey all! I am new to CF, and this was my first time to clean and jerk. I want to make sure that I have the form down correctly. Any critiques would be fabulous!
![]() Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd5wrQmbEic Thanks! Oh- these were the last two of the workout. Here was what I had done to that point: bar (I think it weighs about 10kg?)- bar+10kg - bar+10kg - bar+10kg - bar+10kg - bar+20kg fail- bar+10kg - bar+10kg -bar+10kg |

Re: Clean and Jerk Video- critique please!!
Few things right off the bat. Really not too bad for your first time, but you definitely have some work to do. Dont want to give you too much to think about so that there is no "paralysis by analysis"
On the Clean: The bar needs to be over your mid foot for your set up. This will start the barbell on the right path. The bar is way too far out in front of you, and this is the reason you kind of fell backwards on the second lift. Get the bar closer and finish that second pull, and be as fast and aggressive as you can. On the catch try and receive the bar on your shoulders, elbows should be way out in front of the bar and hands relaxed. Try not to place the bar on your shoulders, let if fall. It takes some practice, but if will come. You back angle looks good. Just keep it that way. Also, I would elevate the bar initially. Those weights are too small and put the bar a few inches below a typical barbell setup. The Jerk: Start with the same receiving position I described above. The thing you need to do here is to fully commit to the jerk. You need to land in more of a lunge. Both legs bent, with the back leg bent more so than the front. Try not to push the bar up.. Just pop it off your shoulders and push yourself down under the bar... Hope this gets you started! Good luck |

It's good to see that you have a lot of enthusiasm to learn the lift. However, it might be best if you started from the very beginning, as outlined in the drills in the following SFW technique videos from the CalStrength website:

I'm definitely down for drills. However, I can't get the link to work- it says it's "forbidden". Is there another way to access the video?
