False grip muscle ups ruled out?

Hi Guys,

One of our box members told me today that the standard for used for muscle ups for this years 2012 games was the "No false grip" version and that the false grip will be ruled out in the near future and only regular grip will be permitted... WTF? I can't be bothered filtering through all the 2012 games footage, but I'm pretty damn sure there were many athletes using the false grip on muscle ups... Doesn't Camille almost always use it?

Is there any truth to this? I sincerely hope not. That would be like not allowing a hook grip on ply lifts. Anyone else heard this rumour or is it just BS?

Thanks

That sounds pretty ridiculous as well as almost impossible to enforce at full-speed. I can't imagine any justification for banning them in the first place.

Start carrying a small flag in your back pocket....preferably yellow. With a permanent marker write a BIG "BS" on the flag. Next time this particular friend says anything about training, feel free to throw it at his feet, hold one hand up in the air, with the off hand point directly at him and let him know he's "full of $H!t"

Re: False grip muscle ups ruled out?

Not always true.

No false grip here. WFS (not sure on the audio; speakers aren't working): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2Sr6FFdcII

When I'm warmed-up I can do two or three strict without false-grip.

Re: False grip muscle ups ruled out?

Ah, my mistake. When I said strict, I was meaning slowly as well as without kipping.
