More Newb Zone questions

I have been CrossFitting for a while with favorable results and I think I am ready to bite the proverbial bullet and give the zone a try. I was just wondering if the Zone vets on here have any tips or advise they would like to share. I have looked over zonediet.com, a ton of zone posts both here and on some other boards and have ordered both entering and mastering the zone books. They on the way. If anybody has any other resources please post them up. What I was really looking for but unable to find is a fitday style zone site where I could punch in a food and quantity and it would tell me the blocks. Thanks in advance.

Re: More Newb Zone questions

I don't know of any fitday style site that caters to Zone, but it's really not that hard. Just divide Carbs by 9, Protein by 7, etc.

You can still use fitday pretty easily, although you might be surprised by the results. I found my results varied a lot when entered into fitday because Zone blocks are typically defined by the major macronutrient, whereas fitday counts EVERYTHING. So a food that has 7g protein and 4g carbs will technically count as 1 block of protein, fitday will still count those carbs and in the end your numbers almost certainly won't be 40/30/30

If you haven't read Issue #21 of the CFJ (it's free), I suggest you do. It's probably the easiest way to get started into Zone, and you can refine from there.
