I was wondering how people on active duty or ROTC stick to the Crossfit program? Do they supplement their regular PT with the WOD (or vice versa)? Do they modify the WOD? Or is their PT itself Crossfit?

Gordon,
I'm active duty USAF. I have been doing the WOD as my primary fitness activity since Sept 03, supplemented with some other fun stuff (kettlebells, clubbells, power lifts). In March we instituted a unit PT program, consisting of a 2-3 mi run 2-3x week, calisthenics (pushups, ab work, etc). 1-3x week, and I've been slowly introducing some crossfit-style activities to the group. Some days I do 2 workouts, some days end up being a crossfit rest day and a PT down day, some days I do one and take credit for 2 (e.g., crossfit calls for a 5k run and we do 3 miles for PT). If the WOD calls for a lot of pushups, I might not do as many during PT (being the PT leader, I plan the activity). Regards, |

I have been using WODs since late winter & still maxed my April APFT...I will supplement increased runs, sit ups & push ups for my next one in Oct. Teh spring APFT was done with some increases in running but none in PUs & SUs & I still maxed these events.
