Aussie ppl - where to get rubber mat?

Have searched high and low. To cover my garage 6m x 6m it's $1500 with crappy 6mm horse mats. Hardware store said they can get me 20mm rubber but it will cost $880 for 1.2m 10m roll, so still works out about the same.

Ebay has the 13mm gym tiles that look pretty solid for $39 not including shipping which is going to work out pretty expensive too.

Would prefer to cover whole floor so no concrete dust keeps coming off and I can keep it nice and clean.

Anyone found anything a bit cheaper and still thick enough? Was hoping for 20mm, don't want to crack my concrete if I miss a snatch or something!

Hi Vanessa

Try a conveyor joint, mine conveyors, not sure if you have many mines near you, but the companies that go and repair/replace conveyor belts would be able to help you out...might have to google or yellow pages or ring a few mine sites and find out who they use...

Hope that helps

I'll just add...up here in newcastle there's a few companies that repair/replace conveyor belts...Convatech and Reliable belting...google them...even if you ring them they might have some contacts they know of near you...

Re: Aussie ppl - where to get rubber mat?

I got mine from The Horse Shed Shop (wfs). It's just a smallish business, and I had to drive out bush to pick it up. Not sure if they'd be prepared to ship interstate, but I'm sure you'd have similar "horse shops" up there, right?

I got a 1x3.6m 'offcut' for $75, and probably could have got it cheaper (thats what I offered them).

Their normal mats are 3.6x3.6m and the guy said they sell for $1000, so getting over one quarter of that as an offcut was a pretty good deal I thought. They had a pile of these offcuts sitting there looking as if they would eventually be thrown out, too.

Re: Aussie ppl - where to get rubber mat?

Hi Vanessa

I looked into this a while ago but didn't make any headway. Could you let us all know what you discover?

Once place which I had a look at was http://www.ausrubber.com.au/products...gory=Gymnasium. The shockproof mats looked good (I went and visited), but still expensive. They also had horse mats, however I can't remember if they were ribbed or not. They were around $120 each or so from memory.

I'd love to find a reasonable price solution for this. I ended up just buying some cheap chipboard for over the concrete but it is only a short-term solution.

Cheers,
Jeremy

Re: Aussie ppl - where to get rubber mat?

Ok, so I ended up getting 1m x 1m 15mm rubber gym mats from Fitness and Sport (they are on ebay and have a site). As I was buying some kettlebells, rings, bar and plyo boxes too, I got a discount, only paid $30 per mat which is about $5 per sqm cheaper than everyone else that would deliver here.

Will post some pics once I get it laid and set up in there.

Sorry Vanessa, I can't find them on Ebay.
Can you post a link, or drop a few more hints?

Thank-you.
It looks to be a recycled material. I'll be interested in seeing how well it holds up to a few impacts. Sorry, that sounded negative, I meant I really am hoping it works. Sold sheets cost a bomb down here and if recycled material is available and durable enough, that would be really cool.
