Getting out of Corporate America

Hello, to give you a little background on myself I am a 30yr old male, cubicle warrior, started CrossFit 7 months ago & like many of you became a big fan pretty quickly. Over the past 7 months I have realized that I would like to get into the fitness full time, obviously CrossFit related in some capacity. Just looking for some advice on where to start as it seems there are quite a few roads to choose from. I have looked into the traditional Exercise Science route, training courses at OPT, CrossFit Cert etc.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Re: Getting out of Corporate America

First thing you should look at is the CF-L1 Cert and then see if you can mentor at a box to learn how to train/coach people. If you're looking to start a box, then you have a lot more to learn as well.

There are a lot of great trainers out there, but are not businessmen/women. There are many things to consider and a ton of more stresses, but it's worth it.

I just opened a box while continuing my corporate job. I'm three months in and haven't got much sleep, my training has suffered, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'd be happy to talk to you more about it. Send me a PM.

I am with you there, except I am in london and work in public service, I would love to start my own box, but I need to improve my skills first by getting foundation trained. I stumbled across CF whilst trying to loose weight and fell deeply in love.

Re: Getting out of Corporate America

Hey Marc!

I just attended a Level-1 seminar in May, and I gotta say, it is a GREAT place to start. The instruction is top-notch. I have been a personal trainer for the past three years, and I gotta say... nothing compares to the CrossFit Level-1 cert.

Good luck!
