Pizza ?

Hey, I was wondering if pizza is *okay* to eat? Obviously, it's not paleo--however, it doesn't seem that terrible--that is, if you get it from a local mom and pop joint. How bad is pizza like this for me (this is not like Cici's or Papa John's - it's all made from scratch)

Re: Pizza ?

A bit heavy on processed carbs (white flour) and calories for day to day eating. You will find some recipes for paleo pizza and meatza on this board if that floats your boat.

Personalluy I enjoy the real thing in moderation. Good with a Perroni or a cheap, weapons grade, chianti, followed by an affogato.

Re: Pizza ?

Brian,

TO be fair, it isn't covered in the FAQ.

Re: Pizza ?

Pardon me for my ignorance; it was premature of me to assume that, in a forum that condones the eating of exorbitant amounts of cholesterol, my question wouldn't seem so outlandish.

Forgive my stupidity...

Re: Pizza ?

I don't see it as that bad, in moderation, of course.

Many restaurants, while making stuff from scratch, will often add stuff like sugar and excess salt into their sauces to enhance the flavor. So while it's 'from scratch' you may be getting more than you bargained for.

Personally, I think that if you're going to eat pizza, you should make your own, that way you can control what goes into it. I'd make it super thin crust to minimize the quantity of dough, but that's just me. If you want to remain gluten free, you can try a mixture of gluten free flours that gives you the end texture that you want your crust to have.

Re: Pizza ?

What wrong with cholesterol? Other than it being hard to spell?

I intend to make my own once I get that coal burning oven installed.
