Jump Rope Durability in Cold Temps

I work out in my garage and recently the temp has dipped well below freezing. I have broken two jump ropes during DUs this week and its probably because I haven't been storing the rope indoors at these temps. I have been using the GoFit hard rubber ropes. I'm hoping that the problem will go away if I keep the rope indoors at night and move off the concrete floor onto rubber mats when I jump. I will, however, still be working out in the cold in the garage.

Anyone else had this problem? Are some ropes more durable than others in cold temps?

Re: Jump Rope Durability in Cold Temps

Funny, I just had a pvc jump rope like the buddy lee style ropes break this week. I didn't even step on it or anything, just hit the ground and snapped in half. I also keep my ropes in the garage where it's been below 45 for a few weeks now. I think keeping them inside may be the solution.

I need to do that with my bars too. I recently had a wod which used the pullup bar, barbell, and a kettlebell...all stored in the garage overnight at around 34 degrees. Midway through I thought my hands were gonna shatter.
