Yeah, I figure the participants have to be in on it. I wondered if the card was not somehow already glued to the aquarium wall, and concealed somehow. I also wondered if they don't have some sort of plastic now that would enable him to reach over without ripping it. It did look like a little water escaped. They could likely take the lines out in editing.

Actually, I wonder if the whole thing couldn't be done in editing. That wouldn't take much skill.

I'm usually pretty good with magicians, and just thought I'd put it out there.

Barry, there were no camera tricks.

I used to make my living as a magician and what he did is actually a very old trick with a new twist. Typically the trick is done with the card appearing on the other side of a window or under a glass table. He simply used an aquarium as a nice twist on an old trick.

LOL, union card, I love it.

Honestly, if you want to know you can probably go to a library, Chapters or a magic shop and find a book to tell you.

Here's the neat thing... many times people will know how to do a small trick, but when they see it on a larger scale they're baffled. I bet you could buy this "trick" at a magic shop for about 5 bucks in a little plastick case. The concept anyway.

I remember Penn and Teller on a talk show once. they did a trick and then showed everyone how they did it. They then proceeded to do another trick using the same concept/piece of apparatus and nobody had a clue.

I know it sounds cliche, but the magic really is in the presentation.

But ask yourslef, do you really want to know how it is done. I haven't enjoyed a magic show in years because of my knowledge of how things are done.

Enjoy the magic!

I know a few tricks and sometimes one like this (I didn't have time to watch the video, sorry) the deck may be stacked with only 3 or 4 different cards (like the 6 of hearts, King of spades, 5 of diamonds and Ace of spades) and the whole deck is made up of those. Then one of each is planted somewhere. I've seen it done on TV in a pub, and when you say your card was the Ace of spades, well the magician points to the dart board, or wherever he planted the ace and bam! there it is. He just has to remember where he planted each card in the pub.

How come the maintenance staff did not yell at him for putting his grubby hand into the aquarium in the first place?

Would the trick be as smoothly performed if he had his hand in a tank of piranhas?
:g:

Anyway, I'm with Jason, sometimes it's more fun just to enjoy the magic.

"How come the maintenance staff..."

This assumes it's the aquarium's aquarium.
